Beginnings always feel so full of hope and potential. I look forward with anticipation whenever something is starting. Then as time goes on, I become weary easily. I lose confidence and forget all the hope I once held dear. Since I am practicing mindfulness this year, it seemed like a good idea to use this time to consider how I want to approach the upcoming month.
Find joy in my work. Throughout January, I have felt varying degrees of success in this goal. I think a big part of the reason is that I was adding on lots of extra hours at work, so in February I want to work a little bit less. It can be hard to do at times (we all need to make a living!) but I think it gives me more energy and joy when I don’t push myself so hard.
Read two books, one fiction and one non-fiction. I am almost finished with my fiction book for the month of January, so hopefully I get it done before the 31st! I won’t tell you what they are yet, but I do have them picked out. However, let me know if you have any recommendations for March!
Exercise 2-3 times a week. I’ve been doing pretty well in exercising about twice a week, though this week I only made it once. I don’t have a precise goal I’m trying to reach when it comes to exercise, except for staying healthy and making a lifestyle change where I’ll be more active and generally healthier.
Plan for a trip to Seattle! I won’t share when I’m going but my husband and I are planning to celebrate our anniversary early (we got married June 1, but it can be difficult for us to travel during the summer for some reason). We have a lot of places to visit and activities in mind, but feel free to comment if you know of any must-do, must-see experiences in that area!
Perfect a baking recipe. I made ciabatta earlier this month (read about it here), and I’m not sure yet if I want to try that one again or attempt another. I’m sure I’ll let share it here either way!
